Confirmation in the Diocese of Baton Rouge is normally received in the eleventh grade year of high school. Candidates for Confirmation are required to undergo a period of catechesis and preparation before this occurs. This is integrated within our Parish School of Religion for children.
Students of our interparochial school, Catholic of Pointe Coupée, do indeed receive formation in their respective religion classes, but they also participate in orientation at St. Mary of False River to prepare them for the celebration of Confirmation in their parish church.
If you are an adult seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation, you will most likely enter the Rite of Christian Initiation to prepare for Confirmation on the Feast of Pentecost at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge with the bishop.
